Photo Friday with the D family

Friday, November 20, 2015

Happy Friday! I'm pretty excited to share with you a session I did a few weeks back of one of my bestie and her family. I can't tell you how wonderful it feels to be given the privilege of capturing a family grow. I've been taking This family's photos since the birth of each baby.

It's hard to believe that the last time we took family photos they were only a family of three. Time passes so quickly! As always they were pretty much perfect models for me. The little ones have needed a little training but I'd say over time they have gotten the hang of it. Wouldn't you?

My goal in photography isn't always to capture the perfect pose or smile. I want to capture personalities, who the person is. I love this next picture, even though it might be a little silly, because I feel like it shows them as a couple. Shows the goofy and the love that they share together. I fully believe that laughing with each other is so good for a marriage.

If you can't tell I'm pretty smitten with these guys.

Thanks for coming by today, I know I've been a little absent lately. I have to be honest I've been pretty busy with getting ready for the holidays, as I'm sure everyone else will be too. I ask for you to stick with me, I might be a little scarce the upcoming weeks but I am working hard to get things ready for the new year. The ABC's of the 90's will be on hold until the new year but only so I can go full force with it. I can't wait for you to see all the new things I've been working up! Thanks for be faithful fans of Sweet Norma Jean, you guys are the best!

Have a Sweet weekend!

ABC's of the 90's: Letter C

Wednesday, October 21, 2015

Happy Wednesday! Today we continue in learning our ABC's in the best way possible, traveling back to the 90's.

The letter C is up today, and while I had some good ones to choose from I ultimately had to go with The Preacher's favorite. I almost forgot to even include this one in my list of C's but over the weekend one of this guys best movies was on and I knew he was my letter C. In the 90's I don't know if there was anyone funnier than:

C is most definitely for Chris Farley!

There was nobody else like Chris Farley, this guy had a comedic gift. He made the simplest of things hilarious, like putting on a coat that is too small. Who else could make that funny at all? Chris Farley was everywhere in the 90's. From Tommy Boy to Saturday Night Live, people couldn't get enough of this guy.

Sure, most of his stuff was probably inappropriate for children (which is what we were at the time) but hey we didn't get "those" jokes anyways.

What I love about Chris Farley is that even though I have seen his movies and skits hundreds of times they still make me laugh. Tommy Boy was the movie that was on this weekend, and we seriously laughed the whole time.

I mean just looking at these pictures has got me laughing. He had so many SNL skits that are now classics, from Matt Foley to the Gap Girls to one of my favorites the infamous Chippendale skit.

It's kinda like a car accident, you just can't look away.

Sadly Jo refused to wear her shirt today, she said she didn't want to wear a shirt with a face on it. How do you argue with that???

So what is your favorite Chris Farley moment? Let me know in the comments below!

Honorable Mentions:

  • Corey Matthews: more on this later
  • Captain Planet: The cartoon that taught us the importance of being environmentally friendly. "By your powers combined, I am Captain Planet!"
  • Cucumber Melon: Oh 90's bath and body works, you were just the best. (who else ran to the mall a few months ago when they heard about the 90's making a comeback? who else creepily stood in the aisle sniffing all the different scents?)
  • Carmen Sandiego: Where in the world is she? She was the best person to spend days at home sick from school searching for.

Did I leave any out? What C's do you have? Let me know what I missed in the comments below, and come back friday for Photo Friday!

Photo Friday (on a Monday)

Monday, October 19, 2015

You guys, did you know that fall break has this affect on a person that makes them loose all sense of time? Well it does. I completely forgot it was Friday until it was Sunday. Awesome right? I figured you wouldn't care if I went ahead and did Photo Friday today. You can look at it as a good way to start your week, especially with this cute little guy that will be on here today. The last time you saw him was a year ago when I took his newborn pictures.

I'm not sure how this year went by so fast! Ty was so much fun during this photo session. He really thought he was big sitting on that couch all by himself.
This picture makes me laugh because he is on his way down (falling on his behind) when I snapped this. His expression is my favorite.
Ty's cake smash session is my all time favorite of all the cake smashes I've ever done. (Cake was provided by the fabulous Calli Jo Cupcakes, you definitely need to check her out)

I have never seen a kid consume a cake like Ty. He destroyed it.

Those eyes!

That's all I have for today, thanks for letting me be a few days late. Come back Wednesday ABC's of the 90's the letter C!

Happy Monday everyone!

ABC's of the 90's: Letter B

Wednesday, October 14, 2015

It turns out that I am not the only 90's kid around here, thanks everyone for all the love last week. I was telling the Preacher that I always  second guess my posts after I post them, I mean I think I'm pretty funny. I often laugh at myself, it's true. But last week several of you confirmed what the Preacher disputes (he claims I'm not all that funny, whatever), so thank you to the ones who proved him wrong and me right.

This week is letter B!

Does anyone have any guesses?

I feel like this one has to be pretty obvious, right? The letter B of the 90's if for:

Beanie Babies!

Let's be honest here, who didn't have or want a beanie baby in the 90's???

I remember having a parent that thought beanie babies were dumb and I only had the little bitty ones you got in a McDonalds happy meal. We all know that was not the same.

This is one of those things that we will look back and probably shake our heads. I understand that fads are fads and usually absurd. But how in the world did we convince ourselves that there would be money in these stuffed animals? Especially since if anything happened to that tag it was worthless.

Like it or not beanie babies were a staple in the 90's, that is why it was chosen for this week's letter. Now I just have to hide their existence to my girls because they will definitely want them, all of them.

Sadly I don't have any honorable mentions today, I guess nothing comes close to the phenomenon that was beanie babies. Can you think of a good B? Or even better how many beanie babies did you have and do you remember their names? The official Ty names not what you may of called them...

Let me know in the comments! Hope you enjoyed the flashback or lesson in history depending on how old you are. Come back Friday for Photo Friday!

Photo Friday! The Great State Fair Of Oklahoma!

Friday, October 9, 2015

Please tell me that when you read the title of todays blog post you sang the old jingle. Because I totally did as I typed it out. I am writing this much later than I had planned on, you guys know how this whole "life" thing gets in the way sometimes right?

Who went to the fair when it was in town? For those of you who don't live in the GREAT state of Oklahoma the fair is kind of a big deal. I mean where else can you get deep fried anything, ride death trap rides, spend $50 for a 4ft banana, all while taking in the best people watching in the state, maybe even the nation. This was actually the girls first time to go to the fair. The Preacher and I were really excited to surprise them. When we pulled into the parking lot I thought their little eyes were going to pop out of their little heads.

I'm going to be honest I was really excited to take my camera and really explore and take all these amazing fair photos. But, it didn't happen, I have a really good reason though. The girls were so stinking excited, everything they saw was new to them. So instead of photographing all these details I got caught up in just watching and enjoying them. Don't worry though, I still have photos for you today.

Before you judge me for letting our kids on these rides (mom) please just look at those faces. They loved it.

The Preacher had this fantastic idea that the four of us should ride one ride together, awesome right? Who doesn't like family time??? I agreed, good times. We saw a mild version of the teacup ride and decided this would be a good one for us. Let me use insert a sidebar here: I have HORRIBLE motion sickness, it's bad guys. Why in the world did I think this was a good idea? We got in the little cup looking thing the ride attendant looked at us and smiled real big and then gave us a huge push, the ride hadn't even started yet and I am ready to hurl all the delicious fair food consumed that day. Thankfully the Preacher has amazing strength and was able to slow us down while I did everything I could to not blow chunks on my kids.

Everyone else loved it, except for how slow it had to go. After we got off Charlee and the Preacher were walking behind me and she asked "can we ride it again without mommy?" Ouch.

To answer your question, yes she wore her glasses all day. What do you expect she can't see without them?!? She did take them off for a moment but only so she could get a unicorn painted on her face. Priorities y'all.

Guys, these are real smiles, they love getting their faces painted.

My favorite part of the day was telling them after we ate "dinner" that the day was far from over and next was Disney on Ice. Now, they had no idea what that actually meant, they've never been to a Disney on Ice, but they were still excited. Or maybe it was me that was excited, either way it was exciting.

I can't even, they are just so cute. I know I'm biased and frankly I don't care. It just doesn't get sweeter than this.

I did take pictures of the actually show, however they are not great quality. I more so took them so when I make a book of our amazing day the girls can see all the princesses we saw there, so this concludes our Photo Friday!

Thanks for visiting today, I hope everyone has an amazing weekend!
