Moses and Blogging?

Friday, October 26, 2012

Why a blog? The idea of having a blog was never appealing to me because to be honest,  I've never been much of a writer. So why now? I guess my answer is because of Moses.

I really love the story of Moses, a story of redemption. A hebrew baby to be killed, saved by the princess, to be raised the grandson of the king. I love the irony there. Then moses messes up and runs away. God then tells Moses that He wants to use him to free His people from slavery. How does Moses answer? "you don't want me, I'm no good at speaking. I'll just mess things up." God answers him: The Lord said to him, "Who gave human beings their mouths? Who makes them deaf or mute? Who gives them sight or make them blind? Is it not I, the Lord? Now go; I will help you speak and will teach you what to say."  Exodus 4:11-12 The reason I love this story is because it shows me that God can use our weaknesses just as well as our strengths. It's funny that God just finished showing Moses all these amazing signs of His power but Moses still doesn't believe God can use him. Aren't we the same way? I know I am. The truth of it is that God could of picked anyone to free His people, but He chose Moses, lame tongue and all.

I've always have a fear of failure, of the judgement and shame that can go along with it. I think Moses did too, he asks God "what if they don't believe me?" I can almost hear him thinking "what if they think I'm crazy?" I don't know about you but I have thought the same things. What if I'm not good enough, smart enough, creative enough, funny enough. Sadly my fears have kept me from pursing things I love.

Since moving to Wilburton God has been working in me and showing me that I have to change my definition of failure. My definition of failure is not succeeding, but I believe that God's definition is not even trying. So I'm going to try, with that I am starting this blog (and maybe a few other things...).

When I first starting thinking about starting a blog I couldn't decide what route to take. A photography blog, craft bog, or just a blog about the girls so friends and family could stay updated? I finally came to the conclusion that I am not going to put a label on it. I will be blogging about our life and everything that goes with it. I'm not promising that it will always be well written, but it will be real. My prayer is that God will continue to use my weaknesses, and that I will continue to have the faith to be used.

  3. Love it Lindse! You are so creative. I love the story of Moses. David and Ruth are also great stories of Redemption and love. It seems God is always using the underdog. His power is shown through our weakness. So, thank you God for being so good to us. What seems impossible is possible through our Lord!
